Tax rebate after bankruptcy

Options
Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has an knowledge or experience in this area. My 12 months bankruptcy finished in mid July this year. It looks like HMRC have recently calculated my tax for the year 20-21 as I called them today and they said they have written to the insolvency people about whether they should be sending the rebate to myself or OR.

They are waiting to hear back. Should this go to myself as the period of bankruptcy is over? Also looks like there is a rebate due for 21-22.

Cheers.

  • It will go to the Official Receiver as the rebate is for the period prior to your bankruptcy. As you were essentially owed the money at the date of your bankruptcy, it's classed as a bankruptcy asset no matter that it's only being paid now.
