Well Martin - thoughts on this; think it would be good idea to have a representative from each of the main reasons for being on the OS forum:

    - moneysaving through pure lack of money
    - wanting to exercise more traditional housewife skills
    - wanting to live a more "simple" lifestyle (less dependent on outside finances - like employers)

In my case - money is short (though I know not as short as for some people) and mainly the 3rd reason.

But.....not for me:eek: ....runs off and hides where no-one can find me:rotfl:

Not that I don't appreciate all you do here, Martin. I for one have truely benefitted.

I vote that Thriftlady does her living on wartime rations thing - including the wonderful replies which included super letters and stories.

Twink could make her hobnobs to show how easy and cheap it is to make bikkies with no nasties in them. Move over Martha Stewart!

Ceridwen could give all her blogs to inspire the viewers.

    Pink-winged could .........

    Rosieben could ..........

The list is never ending - at least three series. I saw a similar programme in France and thought then that a programme based on this site would be a fantastic thing.
  • Another vote for Thriftlady's wartime thread :D

I also think QUEENIE would be fantastic, I associate her with being the Godmother/godfather of OS as she started alot of the original moneysaving threads which are still running today.

... but of course I bow to superior viewer "firepower" - as in Moanymoany telling us about her chickens:D How are Myrtle and her gang these days Moany - still competing for Feathered Escapologist of the Year Award?:rotfl:
  • I was thinking about maybe volunteering for this, you know, representing the student type people, maybe showing how students can be not quite so poor with a bit of old-style sense, but I'm not sure I really do enough 'unique' things to be particularly interesting. What do u guys think? Is it a silly idea?

Nope of course it wouldnt be a "silly idea" - in that it would be useful to have a student viewpoint - now that students dont get grants any more and have tuition fees as well to pay out of non-existent income. I honestly wonder sometimes whether its a deliberate move to have people (well - a lot of anyway) start their working life lumbered with loads of debt - have them too busy earning to go in for any of the campaigning to improve society that students and others without "responsibilities" traditionally go in for (as in - that'll shut them all up till they get to their 50's - by which time hopefully they will be too tired/ill to do anything other than just survive).

So - yes - do do it - it all helps

On a personal note - take care of yourself (journalists and other media people are notoriously intrusive on peoples privacy - so be aware of that).

    Ahem....Isn't Martin a journalist?;):D

I think if you're inviting them into your home for the day you would be aware of the inevitibility of some intrusion. It's hardly sinister though. ;)
