Hi,
Just wondered if anyone could advise.
I want to give my daughter one of the Samsung cameras that I got recently but unsure which is the better of the two.
They are the digimax 600 and the 630.
The price seems to be no guide either as the cheaper one has image stabilisation whereas the other one doesn't.
I think that I have a virus so it is taking forever to navigate the 'net.
Thanks.

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

Know nowt about the specific camera but the reviews on Amazon are good for the 630, and you can't go wrong for £50.

You should go with the camera that has more mega pixel into it. That wll be better for long term process0

Both are 6.0 MP
If it was that easy I wouldn't be asking.:)"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

sorry but that's complete tosh and small minded consumerism ie smaller times/larger numbers must be better. There are compactish cameras for a couple of hundred pounds that have a higher megapixel value than my mid end dslr - which do you think takes better pics and is 'better for long term process'?
The size of the ccd (the device that captures the image) and quality of lens and post processing are far more important. Infact after 6/7megapixels it makes little difference on a compact camera as the relatively small ccd won't notice much difference (it's all a marketing gimick upping the resoloution).0 -

TOtally agree, which is why I am happy to keep my PANNY 3.0MP FZ3 and sell the unwanted 6.0MP Samsung.
Prob is - WHICH ONE DO I GIVE TO DAUGHTER AND WHICH ONE TO SELL ON?
Does ANYONE know?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

Thanks to all that have responded so far and appologies if I sound ungrateful but......
I am an intelligent person and can work out that the better camera is the one to give my daughter, obviously. (Duh)
They are BRAND NEW and never been taken out of the box - right?
THAT is why I am asking for some advice - from someone that knows what they are talking about!!
Perhaps someone that has researched them.
Someone that would KNOW that they are BOTH 6.0MP cameras and VERY SIMILAR in spec!!
Someone that can ADVISE - NOT GUESS!!
I would research them myself but pages are taking 2-3 mins to load and I wanted to find out while I still have connection, as to clean my machine completely will take the computer out of service for the next 12 hours or so and I wanted to know before then, if possible.
Frustrating or what!!!"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

I would say that the S630 is the later model with image stabilisation, so keep that one. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
