Hampshire Trust - slow to deal with

I was looking to open a new fixed 2 year bond over the weekend. At the time Hampshire Trust were offering the best rate at 3.71% and I already had a current bond with them so it should be have been straightforward to open a new account - wrong. When I logged on it said that existing customers who wished to take up a new bond needed to either call or email them. As Monday was the bank holiday I phoned on Tuesday morning to speak to someone who took my details and said the new account would be ready by close of play that day. This afternoon I checked and there was still no sign of the new account. Also in the interim the rate has already been overtaken by Oxbury Bank. I have set up a new bond with the latter and the funding was almost instantaneous.

Sometimes I wonder whether institutions actually want customers.
