Excel problem with onedrive

My one drive has been sending meesages that I had readched my storage limit so I delited some photos but it still wasent happy then today one of my excel files wouldent open and on checking one drive it said when storage limit was reached some files wouldent sync.

So I agreed to up my storage, one drive is happy but my excel workbook still wont open, just a blank excel page, if I right click get a message saying I have locked it for editing, any ideas how to fix this?

If you usually double click on a file on your windows PC then are you able to do this a different way and open it online if you navigate through the folders in your onedrive account in a browser?

possibly using this link  https://onedrive.live.com/

If so then can you open, make a change and then close it.
