Title says "Here we go again with EDF" but in reality, it should say "Here we go again with another thread by someone that doesn't understand their own usage and how much they really should be paying".
Hopefully, the op will return after reading the early posts and understand they underestimating their annual use and that is leading to poor decision making.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. Not in mine or my daughter's.in_my_bumble_opinion said:If you open your EDF account there is a link to change your dd (up or down).
I've found that if you put in a new amount of no more than approx 20% (+ or -) from the current dd, it's automatically accepted. You can play around with it to see the maximum change allowed.
Any bigger change then use the web 'chat' option. Via chat I've never been refused any new amount I've suggested and it holds at that rate till your next dd review (every 6 months). That's my experience anyway.
You'll then see your current direct debit amount displayed. Below that there is a box that says 'Increase Payments Now'. Click on that and you'll be on a screen inviting you to increase OR decrease your direct debit. The rest is just playing around till you have a decrease/increase that will be accepted.
I suppose they are a bit sneaky to say 'Increase Payments Now' on the box that you click, but behind that is the option to decrease.Nope !I have changed DD amounts before and the only way was to fill in an on line form.I think this discussion was had shortly after Zog's demise, some accounts had the option, others not.Found it !!On a normal log in.But only using Chrome browser on my laptop. Not there in Firefox, Opera or Edge.It is also there in Outlook on my phone when I clicked a link on the e-mail i received this morning which sent me to the log in page but not there in other browsers on the phone. Not there on my laptop when I click through that same e-mail.
