Maybe those who have been turned down for this card should be glad! I received and used the card without any problem but today received a text to say I have a balance to settle by 30 September. I checked online and found I had settled my bill on 14 September so needed to speak to someone to clarify. First attempt using the tel no on the card - number not available. So tried online chat - was having a conversation and seemed to be getting somewhere when chat was cut off. Then tried phone again - got through and listened to the usual spiel then - silence and eventually the call was cut off. This is all very worrying!

Have you been caught out by the fact your New Day card may only give 15 days from your statement date to pay the bill?
Check your card terms and conditions and see if this matches the statement and payment date.

The T&Cs mention monthly statements. Perhaps this happened because it is my first since getting the card. It would make me feel happier if I could talk to someone at Newday to get confirmation.

They have been so inefficient so far I am reluctant to do direct debit - want to check transactions first.0

Odds on text will be a generic one sent out to everybody to remind them when payment is due by, and will not check if a payment has been made or not.Life in the slow lane1 -
HI, slightly related, Had a JL card for years and was my only card,i thought the John Lewis card was finishing as at end October.
I used to have a Barclaycard but stop using it so it was not renewed, i appiled to Barclaycard again, i had my previous card with them for 30 years, As i run a business and take a low monthly salary, but take divivends when i know what there is to take out, i have no mortgage, no loans, no debts as such and Barclaycard refused me even with 100% credit rating. It seems its the computer program that only looks at monthly income rather than annual earnings.
So went to Nationwide as i have accounts there and Bingo, no problem at all.
So anyone else in the same boat should forget Barclaycard..i did not try other companies just in case t comes up that i have been refused by numerous credit card providers on my credit history.1 -
I applied for a card and was accepted. They have sent several emails prompting me to activate the card but keep ignoring my replies that this is rather difficult as although they sent me the PIN, I have yet to receive the card. What a dozy organisation.0
