what Small Things Will You Do This Week? 19/09/22

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

    Afternoon all :)
    Today's list:
    Dog walk first thing, free exercise for all 3 of us.
    Prepped another batch of apple chutney. It is still simmering.Brought one of the chilli plants in from the mini greenhouse to sit on the dining table, and hopefully ripen its chillies.
    More HM quiche for lunch
    Shopping after lunch - higher prices (again) and empty shelves (also again).  Managed to keep spend below £50 including a few things for the food bank. I still need a couple of things that weren't on the shelves. I will try to get these in town tomorrow.
    Currently waiting for the chutney to finish - it is a double batch so taking longer than normal to do
    Hope it won't be too long, as I want to make a start on sorting the garage
    Also need to water the beans
    Dinner will be sweet and sour pork, which I have yet to make.

    I'm wondering about making more apple chutney, Dawn. I've already made a batch, plus 2 different tomato ones, but we're completely overwhelmed by apples this year.

    Afternoon all :)
    Work today, so not much done on the MSE front:
    Quick kitchen clean up first thing
    Home grown fruit with breakfast
    A friend had left 4 huge butternut squashes on the doorstep. I will be giving 2 to DD.
    Lunch taken to work with me
    More tomatoes picked. I think the rest need to come off now, and hopefully ripen inside. If not they will become chutney. The tomatoes have been great this year.
    Checked banks
    Dinner will be the rest of the sweet and sour pork I made yesterday, with jacket potatoes and home grown salad.

    Evening all,

    not posted much super busy. I’ve been asked to go to a different branch for Euro Car Parts Monday and Tuesday as they’re very short staffed and need a lot of help getting the warehouse up and sorted. Apparently I’m trust to do this and my manager is happy to pay for my travel there and back on both days!

    Debt owed;
  • First time poster to this forum but inspired by all the pledges! I did everything I needed too today with my finances as it’s payday and that looked as follows;

    1. Move all monthly bills around across accounts
    2. Monzo pot stuffing for the month
    3. Pay off Klarna account 20 days early
    4. Update creditors and balances on my SC online DMP
    5. File all the important paperwork
    6. Update next months budget spreadsheet

    A very financial Friday but that’s payday for you - if I don’t jump straight on it then I’ll overspend! I work in a shopping centre so I always WFH on payday to stop temptation 😂
