New cap - from when?
I keep reading about prices going up in October. Is that the bill covering 1-30 Sep that’s generated on 1 October or the bill covering 1-31 Oct generated at the end of Oct/early Nov?
in other words, am I already consuming the more expensive energy or am I still on the old cap until the end of the month?
thanks

The new rates will only be charged for usage on or after 1st October you may want or need to submit a meter reading on that date2

Many suppliers will let you submit a meter reading a few days after that date as well but will let you indicate the actual date it was taken, so that can reduce the load on their servers with everyone trying to submit readings all at the same time...

we always submit reading on the last day of the month, so I'm not worried about that, I was just wondering when the new tariff starts. thanks for clarifying.0

So with them you would submit on 1/10 to give the final reading for September.

we're with utility warehouse, what you submit is what's used for calculating the bill for the month.0

Not this nonsense again. It will make virtually no difference to anyone if meter readings are submitted several days before or after 1 October. Whenever a reading is submitted there will then be a projection forwards or backwards to 1 October so any incorrect billing will only be due to the accuracy of this, and errors are as likely to be in the customer's favour as not.1

in the case of utility warehouse, it does, but like you said, only in the short term. whatever reading is given on the last (calendar) day of the month is what's used to calculate an accurate bill for that month. if the reading is given a day later, the entire bill is estimated and once next month's bill is generated, it's re-calculated.Ultrasonic said:Not this nonsense again. as mentioned before, all I was after is the date when the new tariffs come into force and that's 1 October, so old tariff until the end of this month.0 -
I suppose to be strictly literally correct the reading should be taken at midnight.

Interesting. I always provide my readings on the morning of the 1st of each month.MWT said:aoleks said:we always submit reading on the last day of the month, so I'm not worried about that, I was just wondering when the new tariff starts. thanks for clarifying.... a small detail and again supplier dependent, but some , Octopus for example, regard the reading you submit as the end of day reading for end of day reading for 29/09.
