Sykes takeover of Lyme Bay Holidays, not great news for their customers.

For many years we have booked accommodation in the Lyme Regis area with LBH, including a week last May just before the take over, this morning I visited the website to book another week in late Spring, The new Sykes style website is no where as useful as the old one which used to show you exactly where each property was so you could easily avoid all properties with a steep climb up a hill, the new map just shows you where Lyme Regis is.
The big change though is fixed arrival and departure dates. Last year we made a Monday to Monday booking which avoided travelling on the busiest days of the week, now it seems it is all Fri-Fri or Sat-Sat. You can change that on the web site but it nearly trebles the price of the holiday £1,200 becomes £3,200 which is bonkers, same happens if you want to add extra days.

I think you may be missing something.I've just been on the website and once you've made your initial selection criteria and got a list of properties up there is a 'show on map' button towards the bottom left of the page. Clcik on it and it lets you zoom in to see the location of all the specific properties (they don't show contours so it is up to you to have a bit of knowledge of the local area though).(e,g Apologies, I don't know how to shorten the link)I't been a while (10 years +) since we last holidayed in Lyme Regis, using Lyme Bay holidays, but even then I remember that the vast majority of property vacancies ran from Friday to Friday in high season. With the upsurge in post covid demand for domestic holiday properties I suspect that the high price for non-standard change over days that could result in vacancies either side that are difficult to fill is probably more a reflection of the general market conditions at present rather than related to the company takeover.
