Amazon - Paramount+ subscription confusion.

I recently took out a Paramount+ subscription, via my Amazon Prime Video account.
Not totally sure how it happened, but on looking at my Amazon Prime Video account memberships and subscriptions page, it showed two entries for Paramount+, one indicating that Paramount+  was "only available with Prime".
Also, my Amazon account appeared to show that two separate amounts of £6.99 for Paramount+ were deductible from my Amazon account, one being deducted yesterday. I rang and queried this, and one of the Paramount accounts has now been cancelled, and I will be getting a refund.
However, I'm scratching my head a little as to how it could have happened in the first place, i.e. how could taking out a Paramount subscription via Amazon result in one having two Paramount accounts, resulting in double liability?
Can anybody shed any light?
Thank you.

I know it's not related to Paramount+ specifically, but I had the same issue with Britbox which I'd signed up to separately.

It was only when I clicked on a show I was interested in that said was available via Britbox through Fire TV that I was signed up to and charged again via Amazon.

It transpired that there are two separate Britbox apps within Fire TV and the default one linked to Fire TV is not the separate one linked directly to Britbox that I'd signed up with.

I had to get that sorted out with Amazon and get a refund too. And they were very flaky in their response to my concerns and feedback which was annoying to say the least. There are still two separate Britbox apps within Fire TV. I was hoping to be able to use either with the same log in. But no. They're separate subscriptions.

Out of Interest, I've just checked search on Fire TV and there are two separate Paramount + results under "apps and subscriptions". One 'Prime Video | Channels' one and a separate 'Paramount+' proper one.

    Hope that helps.

Yes, perfectly encapsulates the problem I had. I just have Paramount+  only available with Prime now, which allows me to watch the stuff I want, and some functionality is better. However, with the other one, which I had for a short time, there seemed to be a more user friendly and comprehensive way of checking what is and was available on Paramount.
The other thing I found puzzling is that when I had and was paying for both versions of Paramount, the version of Paramount apparently independent of Amazon, was still being charged through my Amazon account.
Oh well. Thank you for your input.

There are various apps you can use and pay the provider direct for and some of the same things are available as prime addons but not always at the same price - it is usually cheaper to pay for an annual subscription if it's offered than pay monthly which means going direct for Paramount, Discovery+, Eurosport (when it was available saved almost £50 a year) etc
