Lincolnshire is a big county, whereabouts in the county you are going can dramatically affect prices, as can where you are in Gloucestershire. For example Moreton in Marsh to Stamford is about 85 miles, Dursley to Louth is about 170 miles. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Thank you. Cheltenham to Lincoln. We might put in storage.0

Unless for very short time storage itself is expensive and then you have to pay (or have it factored into original removal price) cost of moving from storage. Cheltenham to Lincoln is about 130 miles.
In your shoes I would first be decluttering as much as possible (and being really ruthless). I would be obtaining quotes from both Cheltenham and Gloucester removal firms and it may still be the case that if you can avoid moving on Friday, cost may be cheaper. Don't be surprised at the wide difference in quotes you will probably get.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Thoughts are, chain free should optimise the price. Also wish to find a good place to live.0

Define expensive? We had all our stuff in a container on a farm for months. Was £100 a month.
In the big scheme of property buying, this is small change.

Ditto NGM. Sadly the co we used 12 years ago have retired, they loaded into a detachable van, and parked it in their barn until required. I wonder if we are talking the same company. Blxxdy brilliant, and sadly missed. I think it's fairly common. Containers have a finite life for moving stuff around the world. Plenty of companies selling them off cheap. Farms buy them and then rent them out - it's a cheap win for not much up-front. A 20 foot container can be as little as £1000+VAT. They pay for themselves in a year.spurdog1 said:

The place we were at has about 100, but seems to add around 20 a year. Always full, mind. Apparently we hit lucky when we applied to them.

Near me, 20 ft container on a farm is over £150 inc VAT pcm but don't think insurance is included. So for a year you could be looking at around £2,000 including insurance. Which is about the same as my Band D Council Tax for a year.newsgroupmonkey_ said:lincroft1710 said:Unless for very short time storage itself is expensive and then you have to pay (or have it factored into original removal price) cost of moving from storage. Actual removal costs I paid three grand To move from just north of Liverpool to just north of the Midlands they broke my fridge freezer which apparently wasn’t covered by their insurance. And then less than six months later I paid £1500 to move quite literally around the corner so the milage doesn’t seem to add a great deal to the actual cost I’m sure there is a per mile cost though. As for storage you can usually get some quite good deals at 50% off for the first 6 to 8 weeks if you want something that’s dry and insured CCTV etc. Those places get really pricey after the trial period0
