eBay taxation question

Hi, slightly different taxaxtion question from others asked here previously....

I (like many others) am looking at the possibilities of leaving my full time employment (on a very good salary) to trade full time on eBay.

I appreciate and understand all the other issues of tax on earnings, NI and indeed VAT however would appreciate if anyone could throw some light on tax costs bore from working from home.

I am led to believe (via an accountant and then again from an article I glanced on BusinessLink website) that if you work from home you open yourself up to a taxation charge on any equity that you gain on selling the house at a later date.

Does anyone know anything about this as I would only be planning on using my garage and not for the full length of time that I have owned the house so would I have to pay a straight 25% on all capital gain from sale or only a proportion ?

Any clarity (especially from anyone further down the line or an expert on tax) would be greatly appreciated as this is the make or break question for me as to whether I am prepared to quit a good job.
