It seems reasonable that if UC reduce your mum's payment by £78 , because you live there, then you make that money up.
She will also have lost any single person discount on her council tax.
You will be using electricity/gas.
Look at your budget and see where you are spending more than is necessary. She what you can cut back on.
Alternatively, find a room to rent and claim the Shared Accommodation Rate of LHA.

£135 for food, needed travel, clothes when needed, mobile costs etc is possible even now. Just like when I managed to get by it would mean you being creative, not buying expensive things, perhaps walking the 2 miles instead of getting the bus to save the money (back when I wasn't physically disabled did this all the time), sewing up clothes instead of buying new etc. Life wasn't easy then and it isn't easy now, even if it is different. I happen to know exactly how much things cost.
Let me put this into perspective for you when you are complaining about your mother asking for more money for your keep to cover bills, in which £50 is certainly not covering your share as it is now.
My OH and I live in a small one bed electric flat and we are careful with our electric usage. We are expecting our electric bill alone to raise to £250-ish a month when we hit the cold months, that is £125 each. That isn't including any other bill.
Think about your mother trying to work out how to afford the bills coming in when their adult child isn't close to covering their share of the bills. I would be making sure to cover my share if I were you.
This obviously isn't what you wanted to hear, however bills have gone up and it sounds as if your mother needs you to help more financially which isn't surprising.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

When you are on benefits (as OP's Mum is) losing a single persons discount on CT is not a big deal as CTR will be paying the majority of that bill anyway. Possibly even all of that bill depending on the council.sheramber said:It seems reasonable that if UC reduce your mum's payment by £78 , because you live there, then you make that money up.

When I lived with Mum as she was on UC her CT liability was £10 per annum with CTR paying the rest. The Council then used additional government support funds from 2020 to pay £10 towards her CT. So her amount payable became £0 per annum.
Now she lives alone with single person discount applied, her liability of £0 per annum has remained the same, with only the amount CTR pays reduced in line to the applicable CT being reduced.
Obviously all councils have differering criteria with CTR, but that is still a real world example.0 -
You haven't mentioned which benefits exactly your mum is claiming....

My suggestion would be to head over to the debt forum and fill out a statement of accounts so that people there can advise you where to find the money to pay the rent.
If you truly do need to pay your mom £130 a month then you have the rest of your money for anything else. If that isn't doable then something has to be adjusted. Either you stop paying towards the bills (as you are paying rent) or you stop spending money on other things or find cheaper alternatives to keep within your very limited budget.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Idk what its called but she does get rent support of univsal credit which does cover all of her side of the rent except my share.

Looks like you need to find your own place and pay your own bills. You will also be able to claim towards your rent.GaryY said:sheramber said:

Why isn't your dream/plan to get a full time job. What kind of jobs/work have you done so far?GaryY said:
The dream/plan would be part-time work but unfortunately, I don't have one atm so no.Bradden said:Is there any way you could increase your income to help your mum? part time work etc?
When are you planning on becoming independent?
To a forum reader such as me, it seems like your plan may actually be not to work at all, though I could easily be incorrect.1
