Hi

i have the newish Vitara with the entertainment system.
I usually plug my iPhone in & play the music on my phone on shuffle via Amazon music.

I came back from holiday 2 weeks ago & the shuffle button on offline music (music stored on the phone) is gone.

I’ve googled to see if it’s a Suzuki glitch or an Amazon glitch, I’m still none the wiser.

Anyway, my car tells me if my tyres need air & today it told me they were on 36/37.  They should be on 38.  To be honest I don’t think they’ve ever given a warning before for such a little amount.

But I put air in them to 38 & the warning is still there, normally as soon as you put the air in, it goes off.

Has Suzuki had some sort of software update problem?  Anyone know what this could be?  Is it connected?

My dad had a 16 plate Vitara - and it once gave a warning of low tyre pressure with the reading only being 1psi below - used the pump in the boot to put some air in, and remember it didn't clear the reported fault for a little while. It wasn't instant. Can't remember if it needed the ignition off and on again to clear it - but do remember it wasn't straight away.

I only used Spotify when I drove it though - so no experience of Amazon Music.

Can't help with the entertainment, I just put a usb stick in the port and use that.

However the TPS does a good job of letting you know when the weather is cool overnight by flagging the slightly low tyre pressure of the cold tyres first thing in the morning as a major disaster.

I have to run higher pressures in the Winter to stop the alarms & flashing lights.

Although the warning comes on at pretty much the first turn of the wheels, it takes about 1/4 mile drive to turn it off.

When I complained about the incredibly close tolerance between the alarm pressure and the recommended pressure, the Suzuki dealer told me they can't adjust it (Bad Suzuki!) and they get a queue of owners panicking about punctures at the first cold snap of the year.

There is a menu setting to adjust the TPS pressures from "comfort" to "spine breakingly high", but that is no use when you run at "comfort" pressures all the time.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

That sounds pretty much what I remember...

To be clear the warning has been on for a few days now.  The car has been turned on & off many times & had many journeys.
  • Apart from your issues, what are your thoughts on the Vitara? It's on my list of possibilities. We have a new Ignis and love it.

Second one - I bought it because the first one was so great.  Had it from new for 13 years, no issues, only got rid because I wanted the toys on the new versions.

The other half has a 17 plate Vitara SZ5 from new and it's been great.
It's been no bother apart from servicing and she's only suffered from the touchy TPS once or twice.

She went for the non turbo, 1.6 petrol (M16a engine) that Suzuki have had a good record with over the years in the likes of the Swift Sport.
It's power is pretty linear but it can be a little punchy when "on cam" and has a bit of a muted growl.

They did a 1.4 turbo Boosterjet, a 1.6 Diesel (from Fiat) and recently the 1.0 Boosterjet with mild hybrid.
We've driven the diesel it's quite noisy and the 1.4 which can be a lot of fun but that does impact the mpg.
We found the 1.6 petrol really suited the car.

It's a fairly light car for it's size so mpg is pretty good, 50mpg on the motorway is easy.
It feels well screwed together, plenty of room in the front, back and boot.

It's very comfortable, the seats are really supportive and it rides pretty well for a jacked up car.

Hers is a FWD version with a rear torsion beam axle.
Without any weight in the back you can tell, it does feel like the rears are tied together over the bumps a little, it's no bother but you can tell.
The AllGrip (4x4) has independent rear setup that is a little better.

Quite a lot of the plastics inside are a bit hard in most places though they do seem fairly hard wearing, a quick wipe and they look like new again and not all scuffed and scratched.

One or two of the buttons (mainly the ones to the right of the steering wheel) seem like they come from a JCB or something, they look a bit out of place with the rest of the dash, but easy to use even with oven gloves on!

The radar brake support is really good, it's not too intrusive that it sends you around the bend in city traffic, it also works with the active cruise control, again it works really well and it's easy to get on with and trust.

She has been umming and arhing about swapping it for a new one, but it really does still feel as tight and as new as the first day she got it so it's staying a good while longer.
  • @Kim_kim and @Goudy

Thanks, I've read a lot of the reviews etc, but it's always good to get real life opinion from someone who's lived with a car.

No fixes to my issue, I guess it’s a few hundred pounds at Suzuki then?
