Travel insurance Halifax

Options

I bank with Halifax and looking to upgrade so i get free travel insurance.

I don’t know if you have to hold account for minimum of 6 months, like you do if you have a bank account with Barclays and take out travel insurance.

As I was just gona use it for travel insurance then cancel so that would only cost me £17 all other places charge about £50-£90

I did ask in Halifax, they said technically, you can close it but it’s not meant to be like that, we wouldn’t suggest it.

I don’t want them to close my account after they see I use it for hoilday and close or to effect insurance

So can I just close it or how long do I have to keep it for.

  • Have you already booked your holiday? It’s recommended that you take out travel insurance as soon as you book so that you are covered.

So you would need the ultimate bank account for all the months from booking until you return from holiday and will be paying the £17 fee for all of those months.

Also With the Halifax insurance are additional costs to include cover for any pre- existing health conditions .

Delaying insurance until just before your trip does NOT save you any money. Whether you have pre existing  conditions or not isn't that relevant. You could easily have an accident or be diagnosed with a new condition before your trip or the holiday firm could go bust and cancel your booking.
