I've been reading some of Liz Truss' campaign promises / ideas today. Reverse the NI increase, fully transferable personal allowance by increasing the marriage allowance. 80k threshold for higher rate tax. Raise tax thresholds.  Scrap inheritance tax.

A quarter of that on top of the energy support would see the pound achieve parity with the dollar before the end of this year.

I can only assume the markets don't expect much of it to happen. The mini-budget will be interesting.....
That is a lot of tax cuts. I wonder if she will increase the ISA limit. Hmm

I predict 50 cents if we start looking down the gun barrel of a Labour government.
Sounds like you've fallen for the propaganda hook, line and sinker
  • What’s left in the country that we can sell to the Americans? Despite The New York Times daily diatribe against the monarchy the Americans always seem to be interested in our royal family, despite the best efforts of the left-wing British Journalist working for them.

Maybe we can flog the royal household proprieties? Should bring in a few quid.

Did on purpose – just seeing who’s paying attention or maybe it was the wine!   (Properties)

  • Since the wine has loosened my lips a bit let me say this.

I use to work in the Royal Household properties – in what capacity I really shouldn’t say. But let me tell you this, the people I meet were jolly nice and Buckingham Palace was never cold in the winter.

No, the American's have been upset with us since the London bridge debacle!
