received text regarding the £400 discount asking me to visit the site- goes to a very real gov.uk looking site, then directs you to a real looking energy provider site...but then asks for card details including the 3 number ccv .....is this a real site please???

This site? Definitely a scam, and not a very well executed one.

Clues:

• No padlock in the address bar.
• Clicking on the "Housing and local community", "Household energy" or "Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy" links will take you to a 404 error page.

It has a banner saying gov.uk which is the URL of the official site.  The URL of the scam site is NOT gov.uk - a very quick way to tell it's a scam.

Thank you all. I'm always wary of things like this but wanted to make sure I wasn't being over- suspicious.
There are some awful scammers around.

Received this text message yesterday. It felt like a scam, but I clicked the site link and what came up looked like a genuine site BUT I went no further until I could check it out. On checking it, WHOIS came up with a recent domain registration for it, based in Phoenix Arizona.
