Morning I just wanted to put out this message. Has anyone else been stung by Idea World? Basically they have gone into receivership (still trading under slightly different name) I returned an Emma mattress to them within there 200 nights guarantee They have told me I’ll get 4p in £1 back so I’m going to be Over £400 out of pocket. Doesn’t seem fair to me and I know other people have been told the same. Advice would be appreciated, thanks.

When did it go into receivership? For them to declare early on the pence in the pound payout seems to be an initial minimum payout or overly optimistic. It can take months to recover all funds owing and even then there is no guarantee that will all be collected in.May you find your sister soon Helli.

You should contact the administrator, you returned an item that belongs to you and they should have your have your details on returned mattress
If so, it's still legally yours and not the administrators so they shouldn't sell or dispose off it
They don't have to return it to you but make it available for you to collect or possibly they could deliver to you at your cost
Then check with Emma Mattress if it's covered by there guarantee directly1 -
Ideal Shopping Direct - trading as Ideal World - went into administration in Feb/Mar this year.
The Ideal World tv and web channels were bought by an entrepreneur.
Presumably you bought before February 22 so bought from the old company.

How did you pay for the mattress?
If it was on a credit card then I can't see any reason why a "Section 75" claim against the card issuer wouldn't be successful as the 200 night trial and then the option to return it for a full refund would be one of the terms of the sales contract.2 -
The mattress may not be faulty, just the OP doesn't like it
In that case, it is change of mind ,which is not a S75 claim1 -

Of course the OP is returning under an agreement voluntarily offered by the company but it's still binding which means the credit provider should also be liable, at least this is my understanding. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1 -
I’ve been back and forwards with email about 100 to both Emma and ideal world both telling me the other party was responsible for the refund. I have contacted the administrator they sent a form to fill in if I wanted to claim then stated the 4p in £1. Emma took the mattress back in July . Stupidly I didn’t pay by credit card . Emma have tried to contact idea world on my behalf but haven’t had response. I’m stuck with no mattress and no money ☹️0

They still have a website idealworld.tv
I hadn’t realised they’d gone bust. we used to order quite a lot from them when they were mainly competing with QVC. They got smaller and QVC kept getting bigger and bigger.0 -
