About to move house

I live in Yorkshire, and I am not clear what will happen when I move house . I am currently with EDF on a fixed tariff, with a £35 charge for an early exit. The new place is with Octopus. Looking at their website the current tariffs are not great. I understand that I cannot transfer my current tariff to the new place. Will Octopus put me on a temporary tariff? If so, I think I will need to get myself off their money-maker asap. How on earth do I work out which company to go with?

  • Octopus will put you on the SVT, which is the same for every supplier (being exactly at the cap).  Most suppliers are not accepting new customers (Octopus actually being one of the exceptions, but it seems you already don't trust them).  You will not be finding a cheaper tariff at the moment.

Why do you assume it's some sort of money-maker?
