More problems with 1st central car insurance

After starting a new car insurance policy with 1st Central they say they found some minor discrepancy and wanted to charge the earth plus £100 admin fee.
So I cancelled (with extra £50 fee as well).
Re-checked with compare the market, or go compare (cant remember) though Quidco and again 1st central came up with the best quote. I checked and double checked my entries were correct and went ahead again with 1st Central.
Now I have the same email from them saying they need to re-check all those documents AGAIN.
I really think this is a con!
They have now sent an email saying I gave the wrong date for passing my driving test. This is not my fault as the quote box didn't allow my date from back in 1984 and kept changing the date to exactly 25 years ago to the date of my quote search so I assumed it just doesn't go back further than 25 years - anything over that being irrelevant.
There is no way you could change it.
Now 1st Central have flagged it up as my mistake and want an extra 200 pounds as a result.
This is the second time they have tried this on and I'm sure it's a con.
They hook you in with a best price then try to sting you later (AFTER the cooling off period) with this trick!
Anyone else had this happen?

Haven't had any experience with 1st Central but insurance companies have a track record of going through the fine detail to get themselves out of having to make a payout. It's not just a 1st Central problem, I've had similar experiences with other insurers.0

A quick search on here will answer that for you.Francis63 said:Anyone else had this happen?
Whilst the aggregator site may have changed the date for you you are always instructed to double check everything on the sellers website. Did you go back and correct after you clicked through?
1st Central are a broker not an insurance company. They dont payout irrespective of if details are correct or not as its the insurer that settles claims (though a broker may assist in the process)Roz81 said:Haven't had any experience with 1st Central but insurance companies have a track record of going through the fine detail to get themselves out of having to make a payout. I tried it several times, always reverted back to 25 years ago to the day. It's a default setting.DullGreyGuy said:
