Hi, I need to get a new passport for my child, her old one, which I cannot now find, expired years ago when she was a baby. Firstly do I actually need the old one and secondly am I renewing or getting a new passport? I cannot find anything online to guide me. Thanks

Child passports are issued for 5 years. If you obtained it when she was a new-born it would not have expired until she was 5.When you renew a passport you are asked to send in the old passport. As you can’t find the old passport - you are replacing a lost passport.
