Hard search appearing on credit file 6 months later.

Hi all just wondering if there is a time limit that a company can release a hard credit search To credit reference Agencies as vodaphone have just released  a search from March.

  • It could well be a glitch, or delay.  Remember that the free reports you see are not updated in real-time - although 6 months does seem an unusually long delay.  A lender will see real-time data.
That aside, do you have any real cause for concern?  If the search is dated as March, then that is (presumably) a true representation of the facts.  If so then it will have little, if any, impact on your ability to secure future credit.  Especially given that mobile phone contracts tend to carry significantly less weight than a search for, say, a loan, mortgage or credit card.
  • The search has dropped my credit score
  • That's OK - your score means nothing, it's not used nor even seen by any lender.  Don't worry about it.  A lender is only interested in the underlying data, and one search for a mobile phone from March will have zero impact on how they view you.

    No, there is no limit.

It is a factual reference of an event that happened.

Given it is dated March its actual impact on how lenders view you will be zero, or very close to it.  What the CRAs think is not relevant as they don't lend money.
