Received a penalty charge notice for being on a street by mistake for 2 minutes

Thank you everyone, I thought it's better to ask here than to waste further time with an appeal.

I've paid the £30 fine. But guess what, the car rental company Hertz charged me £42 administration fee. 50% more than the fine itself, just for sending my details to someone. Beautiful world we're living in, isn't it? I was thinking how to get refunded for that, but it's in their terms and conditions.

If it helps (it doesnt), I briefly drove in a central Nottingham bus/taxi area, and didnt get fined.

Sure it helps I will tell Oxford council that jimpwarsop was not fined in Nottingham, I'm sure I will get a full refund

To be fair to the op there may have been lots of hazards, pedestrians, cyclists, a bus right in front of them.

It is easier to notice the signs when you are in front of a screen or used to the area.
