ParcelHero Overcharge Scam
Comments
-
According to the ParcelHero site, I can only raise a dispute if I have photos clearly showing the dimensions of the package, with the delivery label on it. I don't have that and it's ridiculous to ask for it after the fact without stating upfront that you may need to do that.
@DullGreyGuy is likely right about me reversing the charge.
Sounds like I'm out of options other than "bad reviews"...0 -
They are a middleman in the whole process remember... they have never seen or touched your parcel. They are simply forwarding whatever UPS (or whichever your chosen courier was) have told them.
I'd go back to them and ask them for their evidence from UPS to support the claim it was beyond the declared dimensions... I'd avoid finger pointing at ParcelHero themselves as this type of issue is the courier not them1 -
SiliconChip said:Well, you can tell your bank that the additional payment was unauthorised and they may cancel it. But that doesn't mean you don't owe the money, so you'll need to read the ParcelHero T&Cs to see what they say about oversize charge, and you'll also need to determine whether you did in fact get the dimensions wrong. Do you have the pictures that they have mentioned?
It could be disputed, but expect it to be rejected by retailer on the basis of their claim as excess charge.
This retailer has cropped up a few times here on these extra charges.Life in the slow lane0 -

Carrier name Surcharge name length 2nd longest side weight length + Girth combined Surcharge per package Other conditions UPS Overlimits surcharge 274 cm 70 kg 400 cm £182.00 Any item not fully encased in a wood, cardboard or metal shipping container.
I assume it went with UPS and was bigger than 274cm or 400cm length and girth combined. The maximum length per parcel is 274cm.
Parcels can be up to 400 centimetres in length and girth combined.
To accurately determine length and girth, use the formula: Length + 2x Width + 2x Height
Remember, the longest side of your parcel will be your length.
so...worst case
2 x 95 = 190.
2 x 61 = 122.
= 312cm Dimensional.
even best case...
2 x 95 = 190.
2 x 45 = 90.
= 280cm.
Now on the UPS site it also says....
Your UPS package is considered a Large Package when its length plus girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] combined exceeds 300 cm, but does not exceed the maximum size of 400 cm.
Which I think you fall foul on with the 312cm limit.
Dimensional is L x W x H /5000 = 52.1KG so it isn't that...

95 + [2 x 61] + [2 x 45] = 307 cm ... so still exceeding 300 cm.Jenni x1
