Hello
I just wanted abit of advice or opinion please. So I applied for pip beginning of July, I sent in various letters and Dr's documents I have borderline personality disorder anxiety and depression. I take medication. I filled in form sent off. I was told I may need an assessment, turns out I don't and iv had a paper based assessment. They rang my Dr's and got details about me too. The report has been sent to dwp to make a decision. My first time doing this. So iv been told by a few a paper based assessment is a good sign as they didn't need to ring me. Has anyone experienced this? Has anyone been turned Down this way? I don't want to get my hopes up. I'm told it could be 4 weeks before I find out. Surly they would have felt the need to ring me if they was going to turn me down? I would appreciate your comments. Many thanks

"Surly they would have felt the need to ring me if they was going to turn me down?"

    I would think so, too.

Very, very few assessments are paper based.
So, the evidence in the medical documents you sent must have been convincing.

Try not to worry about, you will know your award for definite in 4 weeks, or so.

  • They are a law unto them self.
All the advice you might get on here will only be of use once the decision has been made.
    ie not in you favour.
Keep copies of everything letters forms, when the called you etc. Keep them forever.
I have about 12 years worth.

My advice is you are at war, no retreat no surrender.

6 years ago it was time for the forms again, filled them out and off for assessment a while later.
Got a 3 year award, should have been 10 years according to the new rules.
3 years ago the brown letter hit the mat, expecting to fill out loads of forms as usual.
To my surprise it was a 10 year award.

    Good luck with you claim.

PIP assessments are triaged with paper based assessment being one of the outcomes.  As previously mentioned they are rare but do happen.  Although not guaranteed to be successful they are statistically more likely to be awarded than a face to face to telephone assessment,

If you provided enough evidence they why put you through the pain of an assessment.

    Good luck!

I had an unexpected paper based assessment, same conditions plus ptsd. I wrote lots in the form and sent my safety plan and prescription. They spoke to my GP and assessed based on that and I was awarded.

Oh great that sounds positive, although I don't have a definite diagnosive yet of bpd, it says it all over my records highly likely. Iv been referred by mental health team to go on a stability course by mind, which I start soon, I have felt suicidal at times but the moods are fleeting, and I wouldn't do it. That's all stated too. It's either all good or all bad. And it's trying to get that balance right. Xx
  • Just to let you know I got my report and looks like I scored 13 daily living and 10 mobility... Fingers crossed now!
