How about a voucher for the Mac counter - I love their make up and you can go and get them to do your make up for free and then buy their recommendations. You could get a lot for £70. I think you should buy her something indulgent that she wouldn't buy for herself. How about a voucher for a load of MP3 downloads - if she is getting a player that would be nice. Some driving lessons to get her started would also be a cool present (if she's not already learning). A really nice wallet or bag are also a good idea, but at 17 she might pefer something high fashion. How about a signature piece from a designer, like a Tiffany piece of jewellery (not sure if you can get anything from them for £70) or a designer keychain or similar. Another really nice present is to buy her a make up lesson - that was one of the best things I ever did!0

I have the exact same problem with my 17 year old! She doesn't know what to ask for as she has bought everything she wanted and has just had her birthday! She earns about £400 per month working at a Country hotel/conference centre as a waitress (full-time at college too) We have done the driving lesson present for her birthday and I only spend approx £75 each on the kids at xmas so apart from toiletries and useful things in her stocking really am at a loss for the big present too, will watch with interest! BTW, also have more downs than ups in the relationship stakes for the same reasons.0

I know you've bought it already, but my suggestion was going to be open a bank/savings account as a place to save for a car if she hasn't already started and pay a lump sum into it. Then she can put some of her wages into it each month and build it up.. That's what my mum did when I was 18.0
