John Lewis Partnership Card

After 25 years of loyalty JPLC denied me the opportunity of joining their new card as I refused to give details of my husband's income. When I called to ask why they said they needed to know household income. I have a working son living with us but they didn't ask for his income details. Women have been working for years to be financially independent and to make their own financial decisions. John Lewis has gone backwards insisting they have income of spouses to determine your eligibility for their card.

If their lending criteria is judged on household income how is that going backwards? It would apply to a gay couple just as much as a straight one, this isn't some sexist change, it's a group lending policy1

You have not been denied the opportunity of "joining their new card".
You have chosen not to answer the questions they have asked in order to determine applications. It is your choice not to pursue the application procedure.
In your own words: "I refused .....". They haven't "denied" you anything.3 -
A number of cards ask for 'household income' rather than 'personal income' - they asked - you didn't want to share the info - so they weren't able to assess you for your application, and resulted in it being declined. Had you shared the information requested, you'd have likely had a shiny new card, and not a care in the world.0
