EndlessStruggle said:I was a FTB and my survey by a one man band surveyor was pretty colourful.
Lots of orange and red.
All very resolvable when considered and didn't put me off.
Some things weren't as bad as he made out after being looked at by the relevant tradesmen.
Cost 1/3 of what they estimated to resolve.0 -

Surveyors get a bad rap in here - as an example, someone on this forum expected in a Level 2 Survey for the surveyor to take a shower and check that it worked properly. In addition, it's a bit like a review on traffic wardens - because they often say things that people don't like, they get hammered for it.I've just had a look at the reviews and they exactly say what I expected.
RANT RANT RANT THEY UNDERVALUED MY HOUSE RANT RANT RANT THEY WORK FOR THE BANKS RANT RANT RANT.Whereas the people that actually paid for a service "Surveyor turned up on time, gave us a professional service, pointed out some issues. Great job"Duh.0 -

we’ve not misled our buyers in any way but I’m also not an expert in property so have no way of knowing whether they will point things out that we were unaware of which scares off our buyers.

OP - try not to worry it’s a sellers market and there are more buyers than houses out there! We paid for a hefty survey when we bought our present home - but unless it said the place was dangling over precipice of an auld mine shaft into the pits of h@ll, we would have still proceeded cos it was our dream location. In the end our seller replaced a broken sink & hooked up the bathroom vent to ventilation which he kindly did without fuss - but to be honest we would have moved forward with the move regardless even if he had refused.Lancashire
