Public Loss Adjuster or Assessor - Can anyone share their experience of using them?

I've a situation for my insurers and in the process of educating myself (e-books for insurance claims but all USA based), found out about the possibility of using loss adjusters who work for the client, and not the insurance company for a fee. Mine is a water ingress, damp issue which I've been told insurers like to blame on 'maintenance' to try not to pay out. Has anyone had any experience with loss adjusters and any advice?

I have insurance loss adjuster experience from a car claim where I kid you not they interviewed me in a pub garden I answered all the questions in detail and they did not pay out my claim because of my mannerisms whilst discussing the fact that my car is been stolen and left me stranded i.e. I was very upset.  

I took it all the way to the ombudsman who agreed with the insurance company who pay them for membership finally enough.  

In retrospect I should’ve done my dead pan poker face and just literally answered yes or no to every question but no doubt then they would’ve found that abstruse

You can dispute the loss adjuster/assessors decision by providing photo evidence.  Their aim is to dismiss everything, even if they don't like the client, it appears.  Unless you are knee deep in water and have children, then they will go ahead. Otherwise, they are dismissive.  Check when the problem happens, especially when weather is stormy, and take lots of pictures.  We pay for insurance and sometimes wonder, what is the pointm when their assessors are so dismissive without checking thoroughly, as in our case.
