Which gas/electric companies offert a direct debit discount?

Hi All,

Just found out Octopus don't offer a direct debit discount. Is there any company I can switch too which would give a discount for paying via direct debit?

We are paying the variable rate. (Of course)

Do direct debit discounts still exist with the price cap?

Thanks in advance.

No companies really offer a discount, most charge extra if you don't pay by DD. Kind of works the other way to how you're thinking about it.

    Barnsley, South Yorkshire
    Solar PV 5.25kWp SW facing (14 x 375) installed Mar 22
Lux 3.6kw hybrid inverter and 9.6kw Pylontech batteries
Daikin 8kW ASHP installed Jan 25
    Octopus Cosy/Fixed Outgoing

I agree the OP is thinking of it the wrong way round but Octopus charge the same, whatever payment method is used.
Therefore, you will not get a cheaper price with another company paying by direct debit.

There is not just one price cap, the numbers you have been seeing recently are for single-rate electricity and payment by DD, so that cap will apply to all the suppliers.
There will also be a separate cap for standard credit payment, but that is not out yet, and if you are with Octopus it wouldn't matter as they do not charge extra for that payment method.

  • As the others have said, think about it like this:

Octopus give the direct debit discount to everyone, no matter how they pay.
  • Thanks all.

No savings to be made moving then  :(
