Has anyone transferred more than one large payment from Santander to Zopa in one day?

As titled, has anyone managed to transfer say 2 x £20K - £25K payments from Santander to Zopa in one day?

I ve only sent a max of  £25000 in one day, which is Zopa s limit I think  ,
£16000 the day before and other payments before that  .

.Santander did put a stop on  the account and ask me to ring them on the  the £16,000 transfer just to check everything was normal which I was very happy to do that. They did tell me to carry on using Open Banking transfers  which is fairly new to them I believe

Yes. If you send it by FP, it might get held up if it's your first payment to Zopa. You'd have to ring them to get the payment released. Try 0800 151 3151, that used to be the direct number for the security team. It takes about 20-30 minutes to satisfy them that your payment is genuine.

Overall, it should be easier to pull the money into Zopa, using instant bank transfer.

With either method, you must have your current account linked to Zopa before they accept your money.

    Thanks both.

@SAC2334 - So Zopa can only accept a total of £25K in any one day?

@Daliah - But you think they'll accept more than £25K in a day?

I am not aware of a ZOPA transfer-in limit, other than obviously their overall £85k limit for the Smartsaver, which is enforced in the app
  • Thanks again Daliah - so you've managed to transfer more than 25k into Zopa in one day?
  • When I tried to do a large transfer from Santander to Wise, they locked my account. This then took 2 weeks to resolve. After that, I was able to send multiple payments in a day, as long as I stayed under the 100k limit. I kept my transactions under 25k as I understood this to be the limit that may trigger a lock/check.

The trigger is random but is often much lower than £25k. Getting a blocked payment released should take nothing like 2 weeks - subject to their workload, half an hour at most if you go directly to the Security team .

@howryoo I've never heard of a bank having a daily limit for accepting payments so I doubt Zopa will be any different. Banks often have daily limits for withdrawals though, so check what that limit is for Santander. Do take note of the recommendation above to ensure the Santander account you're paying in from has been verified by Zopa first though, otherwise the payment will get returned.

In terms of anti-fraud measures - while all banks will temporarily block what their systems consider to be suspicious payments, Santander appear to be one of the most awkward from the posts I've read in this forum, with reports of long phone calls being needed or even people being locked out of their accounts/online banking (as mentioned above).
