Well, the earth never moved for me this summer......but of course I am 73!

Is there an age limit on the earth moving ?? 😬😜0
-
Apparently not. Thanks to a large application of money, I've recently been able to arrange a truly earth-moving experience, by driving a dumper while someone more skilled operated a digger. We shifted many tonnes to relocate a polytunnel. Dumpers aren't very predictable machines, the front and back parts moving independently, so I don't recommend them for anyone over 70 who isn't a skilled horse rider. As for the big vibrating roller....well, the contractor wouldn't let me drive it, saying it was even more prone to accidents than the dumper. Can't imagine why!Catsacor said:Is there an age limit on the earth moving ?? 😬😜

Yes, we haven't explored every possibility yet, like the gardens being at the meeting of two tectonic plates. Mind you, if they are, there's a high probability of mountain building and volcanic activity......YoungBlueEyes said:As an attempt to stay OT, are your neighbours still sinking @[Deleted User]?

Yup, still happening !YoungBlueEyes said:As an attempt to stay OT, are your neighbours still sinking @[Deleted User]?
This phenomena has happened over the past 9 months or so, i've spoken with numerous people about this and it's definitely something that's happening a lot - certainly in this part of Somserset.
The hurricane-type winds in late winter and the summer temps of 100F / 33C+this year has led to large plant life struggling for life.
The demands from the trees, and large shrubs, has been so great that their roots have drawn such a lot of moisture out of the ground that the earth/soil that the concrete sits in has, in turn, lost some volume therefore making the concrete lower/drop.
This is now so noticeable that it's glaringly clear to see.
Homes on the edge of parks and gardens with large trees in/close by are noticing this a lot.

I'm sorry it 's such a ......mundane..... result, tho a result none the less. Mountains and volcanoes sound like a winner to me. Mountains prolly don't need a lot of weeding/maintainence, and the volcanic activity would be free heat

Always a bright side. You have the same number of hours in the day as Einstein had. Use them.1
