Slow cooker v cooking on a gas hob

Hello,
Does anyone know if I will save money by cooking in a slow cooker rather than on a gas hob? I've just ordered a slow cooker 1.8L from Amazon and I want to use it anyway! The cost was £14.99 in case anyone else is thinking of buying one.

I suspect there will be little in it, and the leccy slow-cooker 'could' even be cheaper. Possibly
Electricity is around 4 times the cost of gas, but a casserole on top of a gas ring will undoubtedly be losing a lot of it's heat from around the outsides, whereas an electric s-c will be transferring most of its heat direct to the foodstuff.

If you're on one of those tariffs where the price is cheaper overnight, then a slow-cooker is great because you can just do all your cooking overnight.2

Slow cookers are fairly low in power but over a long time not much in it. The advantage is you make large batches at once - we freeze ours in Tupperware1

Just put a power meter on our chest freezer, initial estimate is £70 a year to run.kdotdotdotdot said:

They bought a small(1.8ltr) one so large batch cooks are not going to happen.
that's a 1/2 person meal with a small amount of leftovers.
Might be this one £14.99
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08FB994L8
or this
£13 in Asda

The real difference is long slow cooking on a gas hob is not so easy(on ours).0
