If you're being told to upload passport photos I'd be careful of which link you were following.

Phone Barclaycard from the number on the back of your actual card, not any contact details from a letter which you cannot be certain is genuine.Badger197 said:Hi I have just recieved a letter from barclaycard saying i.m due a refund phoned up ..did not recieve original letter no problem can look on site ..if anyone has recieved this did you have to upload a passport or driving license for Id any info would be appreciated as they say i.m owed a bit ..
What is the reason for the refund?
Is that reason plausible?
Is the amount of the refund ('owed a bit') plausible?1 -
I'd have to agree with the previous 2 comments. Receiving a letter is perhaps slightly more plausible than an email or text - but still exercise due caution. Phone the bank on a number you know to be genuine (on the back of your card, as Grumpy_chap says) or on a statement, not the number on the letter. Find out precise details of why you're owed a refund. It could be legit - but as Farfetch says, if they do want you to upload some ID, be very careful to check out where you're uploading it to.That part, actually, makes me a touch suspicious. Barclaycard know who you are, they're got all your details, any refund could be simply credited to your card or sent via cheque to your home address (which they already know). I can't think why they'd want you to upload ID before processing a refund.0

Does the letter outline a reason for the refund? (It should).
It could very well be genuine - but call them directly on their regular number to discuss it further and check.0 -
I had this request when setting up the Barclaycard app recently, I had to upload my driving licence within the app as an ID check
Once I had set this up I got a letter a few days letter saying we are just checking this was you who set up the app recently.0 -
This is nothing to do with what the OP has experienced. They have had a letter out of the blue saying they are due compensation (dangle the carrot) and all they need to do is upload a copy of their passport (the possible scam). Please do not mix up legitimate security procedures from a request you made to setup an account on an app with a potential ID fraud attemptmartinbainbridge1975 said:I had this request when setting up the Barclaycard app recently, I had to upload my driving licence within the app as an ID check
