I have received a quote for having my concrete gutters removed and replaced with UPVC. It's one of the major firms.
3 sides of the roof.
Quoted £5440. Can anyone give me advice or their experience of this.
Thank you
Dawn.

I'm guessing it's Finlock guttering, I haven't priced for one in a long time.
Last one was about 5-6yrs ago, from memory it was around £5,000 plus VAT.
It can be a pig of a job and not all firms will even price for it (don't want the hassle, there's easier money to be made etc).
Without knowing too much, the quote sounds reasonable, particularly if it includes scaffolding.
I would also discuss with your neighbours, as the gutter removal might affect them as well.
Make sure it's a reputable firm with good insurance cover and ask them to provide a detailed quotation explaining what they're doing. That should cover you in the unlikely event that something goes wrong.
If you search 'finlock' I'm sure there's some other threads here somewhere?0 -

I had my finlock guttering removed in 2015. Mid terrace front and back removal and replaced with upvc facia and guttering with extra downpipes. Was 2.5 k back then.0

We had ours done in 2018, front of house only, costing £2300.0

I am aware of the construction, these concrete gutters are a joke, lets not forget water gets through mountains! the only reason they were fitted was lack of metals after WW11! I am aware of the way they are fitted and how they protrude into the loft s[ace, as these houses are ex council and clearly these gutters were going to cause damp at some time, there should be a grant towards removing them! there is nothing technical about removing these old ones, and fitting plastic ones, the plastics are not costly, it is a days work for the removal of the fronts or rears, for two men, so where over £5000 pound comes into it ? I have several neighbors that have had them cut off and a cold retarding membrane fitted then the backboard, and then the plastics!. But sorry 5 grand plus for a couple of days work is excessive, the main cost is scaffolding skip maybe two laborers and the man doing the fitting of fascias and plastics. it is a great money maker for some!0

Have recently paid a similar amount for finlock gutter removal and replacement with UPVC, it's not an unreasonable price and not comparable to removing and replacing UPVC gutters.
Takes longer, needs better access - they cant just be pulled off, costs more to dispose of etc etc.
Get more than 1 quote though as you would normally for piece of mind.0
