Smart meter on Eon E10

Eon have two attempts to fit smart meter on my Economy 10 tariff, first time a few months ago not compatible so not fitted, second recently was not reading off peak so removed after 3 days, simple question has anybody successfully had a smart meter fitted to either E10 OR E7

There are probably several million smart meters out the in E7 mode, although British Gas still seem to have issues installing them...

Not so many people still using E10 though, but the meters are certainly capable of handling it.
  • I have had E.ON Next install smart meter and still kept E7 tariff.  It took a few days for the tariffs to be shown on the IHD

  • Kraken (the system that E.ON Next and Octopus Energy use) have real issues with E10 smart meters. If it was me i would not risk it as you may find once the smart meter is installed you will not be able to get back on E10 again.

    Thanks. This is useful info.

I’m on E10 with old school digital meter, used to be with green until they went pop, now transferred to shell.  I think I’ve been put on E7 rates (do Shell realise I’m E10? They probably just see a “2 rate meter” and don’t have a specific E10 tariff, I recon).

Anyway, seems to me I’ve got a pretty good deal. 10 hours cheap time, including 3 hrs  afternoon and 2 hrs late evening, all at e7 rates. Bit of a loophole.

It’s difficult to find info about the relative merits of different E10 suppliers, so your post is very helpful. Avoid EON/Octopus if I really need to change suppliers and am forced to have smart meters. Got it. Thanks!
