What Small Things Will You Do This Week? 12/09/22

Options

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Sorry for not being around last week, I feel a bit "meh" at the moment.  I'm on benefits so no matter how much I cut down on things my debt doesn't seem to go down as everything is going up in price.

    Today I have/will:

    1.  Checked online banking
    2.  Sorted car insurance as its up for renewal.  M&S wanted an extra £20 a month and would not budge so I went with the AA who were the cheapest quote only £28 per month.
    3.  Meals from stores
    4.  Set budget for next week
    5.  Surveys/consumer pulse/pmp
    6.  Water tomatoes and catnip
    7.  Keep electricity usage low as possible

I think everybody is feeling how you are feeling at the moment. Everything has gone up so much. Even as a working person I can’t see how we can pay for everything and pay off debt. I can’t imagine how non-working people are feeling. As long as you are doing everything you can, that’s all you can do. Hopefully there will be a brighter future for everyone on the horizon. 🤞🏻

    My small things today:
    - take lunch to work from home
    - b/d from home
    - nsd
    - keep electricity usage as low as possible.

    Afternoon folks!

@Bagpuss741 - sorry to hear you're not feeling so good at the moment. We're all here for you if you need to vent or just want a sympathetic "ear" (eye?) I missed a few days again but I'm trying to keep up! I'm feeling much better than I was last week. I don't know what was up with me but I was so tired and couldn't focus - I wonder if I was fighting something off.

I had a busy weekend up at the allotment. I got a lot of the new plot cleared. Plus the plot opposite ours were giving up. They came to clear their stuff out. I got lots of cardboard, a nice tall metal archway and then spotted a dresser top in the shed. I have been thinking of getting a dresser top for our sideboard for a few years now but didn't want to pay much for it. Dragged this one home and scrubbed it down. It is PERFECT. I have put OH's great nanna's teaset on it and it's SO SO CUTE! Just how I imagined, but better!

Busy week in work this week but then I'm off from Friday. We are off on holiday on Sunday. I have written an itinerary. Just need to pack.

     Today's small things:
    B/L/D from stores
 Cadge lift home with colleague hopefully
 Turn dehumidifier off now washing and leak are dried out
 Prep some veg for tomorrow's tea

     Spendy things:
    :warning: Hopefully none

     Other things:
    :cookie: Chilled out evening

    Have a good one all

    Afternoon all 🙂
Ugh, what a day. Went to a friend's funeral this morning, and next door neighbour has just been round in tears to let us know that his wife has died  :(
And in a lighter note, my laptop has gone kaput. I have arranged to drop it off to be fixed on Thursday before work, so another bill - just what I needed lol.
Anyway, I have apple chutney boiling on the stove. It is raining quite hard today so can't get on with any gardening.
I also need to make a shopping list and sort out the larder.
Going for a better day tomorrow!
