Is now the time to switch?

Hi - I'm currently on a variable tariff with BG but I've seen I can get a better price (both standing charge and unit rate) with Utility Warehouse. But I'm a bit nervous about switching in the current climate, and with the frozen price cap kicking in from 1 October 2022. Is now a bad time to switch? or is it best to press ahead and get the cheaper rates? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Isn’t the UW rate contingent on you also signing up for their Internet and other services?

And even if it’s a better rate today, it will be going up on 1 October to the new national rate.

Until more info is released from the government I wouldn't do anything.
  • To get the best UW rates your contract will almost certainly be dependant on you signing up for a bundle of their services. If that works for the broadband/phone contracts you already have (with possible exit fees etc) then it may be worth switching. You’ll be limiting your future switching freedom for those services though, or paying through the nose to exit clear and free. Search for and read other recent UW posts on the same subject before you commit.
