Quote me Happy - courtesy car

Hello
Just wondering what people's view on this would be. I was involved in an accident last week. It was my fault I don't deny that, foot slipped. Police attended, no further action etc.
Car damaged and was recovered by insurance. My policy says courtesy car cover included. Insurance confirmation email of claim says courtesy car included. Small print says car covered by the repair garage. The garage have told me it's at least 3 weeks before a car can be sourced and insurance are saying that's appropriate.
Just wondering if that is appropriate? I've never had to do this before. I commute to work and also use my car for community based work. It's all declared etc. Feeling like I will have to buy a second car now. I know there is a shortage of everything but isn't this why we pay insurance?
Other than a complaint I guess I have no other options?
Thanks for reading

Yes, its a traditional courtesy car which is subject to both your car being repairable and the garage having availability as stated in your policy book.
Many insurers offer an optional extra of upgrading to a hire car instead which removes the two conditions however is for a maximum duration and so if parts are on backorder etc may have to go back before the repairs are completed.1 -
Yep, pretty much standard these days. They would have had a guaranteed Courtesy car option when you took out the policy which you could have paid for in order to get that level of service.
You could look to repair outside of their approved network, but the courtesy car would again be down to that garage and Aviva would not get involved.1 -
