I think generally energy prices are going to stay high even after the Ukraine/Russia thing is over.
Maybe not the £1 kwh but anything over 50p kwh long term makes solar very attractive.
Possibly get more competition from energy companies for solar export business.

I agree. It will be similar to fuel - We say how 'cheap' it is now when it drops to £1.82 a litre.

And of course EVs will be just as expensive to run as diesels.

Not unless diesel drops back to £1 a litre. Which is possible (it got close during spring 2020) but unlikely.

3.5 miles per kwh @52p is about the same as a diesel at 55mpg. 14 ish p per mile.
  • Wiltshire, 7.12 kW array split due east - west. Last December I generated 85 kWhrs and imported 739 kWhrs, this June I generated 981 kWhrs and exported 608 kWhrs. You'll have a huge amount of excess in the summer and a huge amount of deficit in the winter so going off grid, even with a battery, is not an option. However panels and a battery will significantly reduce your energy bills. You will also be able to switch off the gas April - Sep inc!
