SMETS1 meter now appears connected and Economy 7 disappeared - British Gas
Just a little warning to others to watch out for this with old smart meters being connected and tariffs being changed
With BG and I chose to come off my fixed rate, there is a two week cooling off period, my old Eon SMETS1 smart, dumb meter has been connected by the look of it and also my Economy 7 has disappeared, the 2 readings are added together, I doubt they get separated for a bill. I'm glad about this as I don't really need it and wanted to go single tariff anyway but I wonder how many more people will have this happen to them as tariffs are changed.
The SVR tariff I was offered on the email was Economy 7 but the one I actually got wasn't, it was single rate, I will keep an eye on this in case they change it back though I doubt this will happen reading past items about this. I only noticed this when I tried to send new readings for my tariff change and couldn't send electric ones also my meter seemed a bit different when I took the readings, my tariff said single rate but I thought it just hadn't been updated properly, I have now reinstated by little display thing and it is showing all the BG readings so it all appears working now. It could be disastrous though if this happens and you have storage heaters or immersion heaters you have on at night.

Thanks for the info.Others have previously reported that BG seem to have this problem with E7 and smart meters. In your case it's not causing you any inconvenience but if you wanted to remain on E7 it would be troublesome!N.
