Any idea how much they cost to run? The display is very bright so must use a lot of electricity. Just wondering! Thanks

Depends entirely on the clock. If it's an LED one I'd expect it to require very little, a few pounds a year tops.
  • Bright doesn’t have to mean use a lot of electricity.

Hot usually means using more electricity.

Have a look for a label that says how many W the clock is.

Two of those. Was thinking May be only one depending how much energy they will use?

This listing (which seems to be the same clock) states 5V 1A which is 5 watts.
A 5 watt device run continuously for a year will use 44kWh, which under the new EPG tariff, will cost about £15 for the year.

  • I have exactly the same one, but a different brand but I guess there all from the same factory and rebranded along the way.

I could be wrong but I work it out to be 5w an hour, or 120 watts a day. So every 8 day's and 8 hour's it'll cost you 34p on the October 1st with the guestimated government.peice cap.

Anyone with more knowledge is free to check my number's and correct me if I'm wrong.

Worth measuring as I suspect the label is describing the PSU required and wouldn't actually draw that much current in practice.

Our router, which is warm to the touch, draws 5.5W.  I would be extremely surprised if an LED clock used almost the same amount!
