Can't sign in to Yahoo!

No help at all - but I can't sign into Yahoo messenger either ... but I'm signed into various Yahoo groups..... weird.. but I did have a massive internet crash last night - Virgin went down big time - no idea if it's anything to do with that


Edit: Can't sign into Windows Live Messenger either

I stopped using IE ages ago because it was a pain (or at least I personally found it to be).

In the IE options it might be worth trying:

General tab > Browsing history "delete button" > then "delete all"

Security tab > "Reset all zones to default level"

Privacy tab > click "default"

Advanced tab > "restore advanced settings"

From what I remember that should undo most things that might have been altered.

Some of my buttons arn't quite the same. Have tried to do it but still can't get in to Yahoo :mad:

If it was me I would dump IE and install Firefox, but as I said I don't like IE.

Do you have any more PC's in the house, and if so do you get the same problem on those. It would be odd if you did, but you never know.

Might be worth trying Firefox anyway. If that works OK then you would know that the problem was with IE, or with a third party piece of software interfering with it.

Thanks Fermi, I've never had any problems with IE before and to be honest I wouldn't have the foggiest how to change to Firefox.

I really think it is something Alan has done when he's been messing with my computer :mad:

I can log in to Yahoo using his computer.

In that case I would get Alan to undo what he did.

As far as I can see, either:

- Some setting has been changed in IE that yahoo doesn't like. Not sure what though, since I couldn't replicate your problem.
- Another piece of software is blocking something. Perhaps some piece of security software (either new or an existing one whose settings have changed) or something similar.
- OR your installation of IE has just gone a bit ***'s up. It does happen.
- Some other little nasty has found it's way onto your comp and is interfering.

If nothing helps, and you want to check for any nasties, then there are stickies on this board to help.

Plus there is a option somewhere in the IE settings to completely reset IE to the way it was when first installed (advanced settings tab I think). But you would need to backup bookmarks etc before you try that I think.

Under tools\internet options in your browsers there's a button called security. Maybe he's changed some of the settings in there? You could try changing the overall security level to medium and see if that works.
