With the cost of energy artificially inflated so gas producers are getting heightened profits, I was wondering why the Monopolies and Mergers Commission are not investigating these hugely inflated profits ?

Because it's not a monopoly, there haven't been any mergers, and most of the companies are foreign and therefore not in the Commission's jurisdiction.1

Nobody has a monopoly and the wholesale rates are roughly in line with similar international markets.
