Monopolies and Mergers Commission

With the cost of energy artificially inflated so gas producers are getting heightened profits, I was wondering why the Monopolies and Mergers Commission are not investigating these hugely inflated profits ?

Comments

  • Because it's not a monopoly, there haven't been any mergers, and most of the companies are foreign and therefore not in the Commission's jurisdiction.

Nobody has a monopoly and the wholesale rates are roughly in line with similar international markets. There have been no significant mergers.
  • How come there's only one Monopolies and Mergers Commission?  :D
  • In what way do you consider energy prices to have been 'artificially inflated'?
