OP - get a metal bin to store it in so it cools off first (unless you never have the fire in overnight) - as plants don't like glowing embers (nor cats / MILs .. in their litter trays!)
But you can only dig so much into the garden - then you have to start decanting it into black bags to go in the domestic waste. Which is almost as dusty a job - as getting the stuff in the ashpan out of the back door every morning. Never did understand where the wind came from, just at that point, every day when I emptied our wood burner?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
