I hope the new PM carries on with the announced regulation of heat networks. Nothing will happen anytime soon but I'm hoping by end of 2023 it's in place. The capital repayment and standing charges for my district heating is 30 a month without actually using it!

I am currently on a heat network. The new charges from 1st October, based upon them signing a recent 1 year contract:
elec : 0.3578kWh, £0.4524 day (was 0.1842kWh, £0.3899 day)
heat : 0.1048kWh, £0.75 day (was 0.0422kWh, £0.5037 day)

SSE run the heating network and I just sign up when I moved in.
The heating coats per kWH at moment is 0.0954307 but standing charge is 0.4725 and capital replacement 0.5013 per day.
They increased the standing and capital replacement and slightly reduced heat in June and they only review once a year so next increase will be June 2023.0 -
9.5p/kWh could well be less than the cost of mains gas this winter.47.25p/day standing charge seems reasonable too. Mains gas standing charge is 28p a day but you can add another 20p a day for boiler servicing costs.50p a day for capital costs is roughly the cost of a replacement gas boiler every 15 years.N. 2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.Ofgem cap table, Ofgem cap explainer. Think it's heat pumps plus bit of gas.0 -
Sorry, I wasn't meaning that your heat network was gas, I was trying to give a comparison to a property with its own gas supply and boiler.
