Crazy gas recordings after new smart meter

Good luck with Scottish Power, they are never wrong... well done Octopus... does look like that meter is out by a factor of eleven, wrong units?1

This exact thing happened to me when I got a new meter some years ago. I had to argue with the SSE staff for a long while before they agreed the meter was metric and the bill calcs were still got imperial.pochase said:What are the readings for your meter?
Potentially the meter could eb registered as imperial (ft3) which would treble the KWh per unit.
Can you post the formula used to calculate your KWh?1 -
Could it be that your usage on the old meter was under estimated and when they have attended to remove the meter they have recorded the actual read, causing a catch up in usage?1
-
Have you checked you meter to make sure the meter reading SP are using is correct? If so then I’d probably start taking daily readings to show SP that something isn’t right.0

May be a bit of a daft question but are you reading the right screen? There are 2 on smart meters, one says M3 & the other kWh. It’s the reading on the M3 screen you need & don’t forget the decimal point1

I’d never noticed until late last year but they did the same to me although never charged me otherwise of known sooner, but my online bill shows close to 24000kwh of gas use in 9 days and my meter had been in for 4 years.

In the modern world with computerised accounting giving real time state of finances, we can't be far off from the point where a panicked computer will start padding out bills to keep the company going...0

This shows what Scottish Power records

@Maj1987 - I’d like to know more, since the problem seems similar (albeit they did charge me and I have paid). Did SP ever confirm a glitch/ issue?0
