Energy price cap, Exit Fees fixed tariff British Gas

Having taken out a fixed rate with British Gas double our usual tariff, on the contract sent it clearly states "It’s why we have our tariff guarantee: if prices go down, you can move to any of our other available tariffs at any time without paying any exit fees. That’s a promise."
Will be interested to see if this is the case as when I have tried to cancel my fixed rate online, there is a cancellation charge payable on the the two accounts. There is also a notice basically saying they are reviewing the new policy and updates will be issued shortly. Are they going to argue the price cap is not a price change? Probably had thousands of customers like me trying to cancel.
However my view is, what's to review?

Wait and see !
It is never a good idea to blunder in with your first post without reading the current topics on the same issue.
Trying to get firm information less than 24 hours after the announcement is a bit premature.
If you read the many other topics on this, the waters are still muddy as to how current fixed tariffs will be adjusted.
No supplier has published their Government Capped Rates as yet.1 -
I would advise you to NOT cancel your fix until we know full details of what will happen. Long thread here if you want to get into why I'm saying this:

I'm also in a fix with BG and am leaving it until they contact me. Maybe the exit charges were because you were trying to exit the fix before Oct 1st when the new government pricing comes in and the new price cap isn't valid yet0
