I am on a fixed tariff, what does Martin mean...
... when he says this:
I'm hearing fixed tariffs will have the same per pound unit rate reduction as variable tariffs (ie, roughly 30% off). So it looks like, unless you fixed at over the new October price cap level, your fix will be cheaper than moving to variable. (More to check on this.)
Am I to expect a *further* reduction *on top* of the £400???

Nobody has a clue what Martin meant by that - and it doesn't seem to match what anyone else is saying very well.
Look at your suppliers website and see what they say about your situation - and it might say nothing yet.1 -
Good idea. It would be totally absurd if that were the case (OK, I am not going to say no, but still absurd).
Edit: no new info. Only the £400 are mentioned, but that page was last updated at the end of august (So Energy).0 -
Wherever you look right now you won't find totally clear info. and to be honest I'm not sure anyone truly knows what will happen yet. Realistically we all need to wait for proper information to be released.1

I’ve read all of this thread but still unable to work out what the common view of what is going on.
Is the view that even those on say a 20p electric fix will be given a discount?0 -
The common view is that nobody knows what is going to happen.uk1 said:I’ve read all of this thread but still unable to work out what the common view of what is going on.

This is how I read Martin's email (just landed in my inbox), but that can't be true; I would end up paying less than last year.uk1 said:I’ve read all of this thread but still unable to work out what the common view of what is going on.

It just can NOT be true (and I wild have very cheap energy, but continuous power cuts, i bet)0 -

Is the view that even those on say a 20p electric fix will be given a discount? While the situation isn't clear, we're generally thinking that fixed tariffs will also be reduced to the cap.But no-one will really know until the details are released. It's also likely to need legislation, so there could be debates which lead to changes.N. Martin shouldn't have added that to the email, unless he was PRETTY certain that it was going to happen.Ultrasonic said:

(Considering it makes zero sense).0 -
The best information I've seen at the moment is on EdF's website:

Notice the "this is complicated and we'll tell you later" for the third item. We think that this is what Martin was trying to write about, but he's phrased it in a way that looks like it includes the second item as well.1
